Ingredients:
- 4 pieces cube steak about 1 lb
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 oz ground breakfast sausage
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/4 tsp xanthan gum optional, for thickening
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
In a shallow bowl, mix almond flour, parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper
In another bowl, whisk together eggs and heavy cream
Dip each piece of cube steak into the egg mixture, then coat with the almond flour mixture
In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp of butter over medium heat
Add the coated cube steaks to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through
Remove from skillet and set aside
In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and cook the ground sausage until browned and cooked through
Reduce heat to low and stir in almond milk, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet
If desired, sprinkle xanthan gum over the gravy and whisk until thickened
Season gravy with salt and pepper to taste
Serve the chicken fried steak with sausage gravy poured over the top
